Two ways:
1) As a TB-ish synth.
2) Creating instruments on the fly by sending new automation data for each new note.

  • ... who else but nitro. always like your shit on 8bc

  • @Nizzemanden Not 8bc, chipmusic. org.

  • you've got to ask - why in gods name isn't there a midi socket already on this thing!

they've already done the hard bit?!

anyway good job working the rest out.

and that's some clever tracking, you should post the whole tune.

oh and did you ever make a cheat sheet for the CC values?

  • @muckleby I'm speculating that maybe they didn't include jacks because they didn't want to ruin the image of it as a very hands-on, analog toy. Or maybe because they didn't think so many people would use it. Or to create the psychological effect of making people want to buy the unit because they can mod it and improve it.

For a CC sheet, follow the first link in the description. There's one more CC after the 2.0 update, not listed there.

  • Great work, dude !

That makes me wanna buy one of those after my monotron.

But by the way, I wanted to know, what's that sequencer running on your computer ?

  • @SecretOrganisation74 That's a so-called tracker. It's called Renoise, and you should check it out. :)

  • @GeneralGist It's a 6-pin mini IDE

  • Wondering if you noticed that the solder points that you're soldering the MIDI I/O to are the lugs for an IDE style connector on the back side of the PCB. I've connected MIDI I/O without soldering.

  • well i'll see what korg come out with at namm in jan 2012...if there's not update to the monotribe/monotron line with midi then i'll be getting a monotribe and this midi kit

  • has anyone here figured out what type of connector is used to plug into the mainboard serial connector for the MIDI mod? I have done a mod already however with the soldering points being so close together I would rather just make a plug for the end and plug that into the board directly.

  • @Gameboygenius only seen the profile nitro on 8bc (:

  • @Gameboygenius yeah you raise some good points. i suppose it's not really aimed at being integrated into a full midi studio and the fact they've released schematics show they're wise to mod work.

and thanks for the pointing out the link i missed too, keep up the good work.
