My 1st Attempt At Tornado Chasing In Lansing Illinois 6-7-08

I found out one possibly 2 tornados were about to role through my parents town so I headed that way, Frankfort Illinois requested a disaster box which was more incentive to make my way out there. On my way I found out I was in it's path so I pulled off and waited. Soon after it was here and I started recording. I did see a brief funnel cloud drop at the Lansing Airport, but of course it pulled back up as I broke the camera out. The quality does this film no justice. It was intense and I will get a tornado one of these days!

Sure was, as soon as it crossed into Indiana it seemed to die down. When it was in Illinois though that thing was ready to drop.

You did better than me. All I received on my first chase was blinding rain, quarter-sized hail, and tons of mosquitoes. Went over 2,000 total on that trip. Missed the tornadoes by 100 miles (7/11/05 - Wilmar, MN. I was in Longville, MN). Fun trip nonetheless.

I'm planning a second chase in May. Looking for a partner. Just need finances.

I got lucky with this one, I was actually driving to my parents house that was missed by a tornado by maybe 200 yards. I would love to go, but no can do, hard when you have a wife and 4 kids. Sorry

I have a ? for you was this the f3 wedge that ripped apart east chicago that same yr? I know that this waas a long time ago but I just want to find some one who like me saw that tornado I was on 80/ 90 four heading home to gary when i saw it and have been looking for some one who had a video or even just willing to talk about that massave storm thank you and again i am sorry this took for ever to post.
