« 20,000 hours of hospitalization »

At 2:30 a.m. New York time (12 noon IST) on 15 October 2007, the 834th day of his hospitalization, Virraj Sorhvi reached the 20,000-hour mark at sickbed. The occasion was memorialized with a chocolate truffle cake (gâteau truffé au chocolat enrobé de chocolat noir garni de tourbillons blancs) created by the renowned pastry chef, Hervé Potus (of The Imperial in New Delhi). The clip portrays Virraj's doing the honours — a few minutes prematurely, to be sure (in fact before 11 o'clock in the morning rather than at the stroke of noon) — at his bedside in New Delhi's Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. The cake just seemed too tempting to wait for the exact moment.

Apologies for the poor lighting conditions under which this murky clip was recorded (the ward where Virraj was hospitalized at the Ganga Ram Hospital was windowless for all practical purposes). [This video replaces two earlier versions, 8dMWya0UIl8 uploaded on 15 December 2007, which had a total of 70 views, and QTRSPOMoJMQ uploaded on 21 April 2008, which reached 199 views by 8 August 2008, both of which were even murkier than the present one, a condition which we tried to rectify post-prod with little success.]
