To raise awareness on the risk the Maldives face from rising sea levels and climate change, President Mohamed Nasheed chaired a cabinet meeting underwater, yes, under the sea. Seated around a table and using hand signals and slates, the cabinet endorsed an "SOS" message from the Maldives to be presented at the U.N. climate change summit in Copenhagen. This was a first.

  • you're all sadistic preachers, the bottom line is that deep down all humans are selfish arseholes and will continue to fuck up this planet till its nothing more than a lifeless rock

  • Nasheed wants to get attention and popularity of international media. He does not want to do things beneficial to the maldivian community. He should be ashamed of himself representing "Maldives" and people of the country. How much aid did he get from the international community to protect our environment. How much did he get from leasing our international airport. It must be more than 1.3 billion dollars. Where are these dollars why had the dollar rate increased to 15.42 from 12.85.

  • We need foregn currency to import goods from other countries. These are things we require for our basic needs. How many people in our country lives under poverty. More than 70 percent of our country shares there income within their family for their basic needs. 60 percent of their income is spent for rent in Male' and 1/3rd of the population of entire country lives in Male'.And 60 percent of the population of Male' lives for rent and they are from the rural atolls.

  • My question is what has he done for the development of these islands. Why haven't the government or nasheed relocated people from tiny islands to a bigger island. We don't need to promote a good transport system. This is a matter for the rich people who owns 20 story aparments in their own land in Male'. Because if Nasheed's goverment fails this would be a real big problem for the land owners.

  • Welcome to Finland. We dont have palms, but you damn sure don't have to worry about global warming.
