I'm a Benedictine monk. I thought this was hilarious! I believe Christ would be grinning while listening to this. There is nothing here that mocks God or Jesus. It's simply another expression of a closeness to God, like African spirituals, Folk Rock, Gregorian Chant (I'm a chant geek) or Protestant Praise music. Compline is part of my daily ritual. If you can't have fun with Jesus from time to time, the relationship will be pretty sterile.

@BigD71889 God gave the gift of language because he made us intelligent, in His own image. He gave us many languages because we are a stubborn, hard hearted people and He turned it into something beautiful. It is a mockery of Jesus Christ to go around comment boards trying to spread your understanding of God without having learned even your native language. Please go study a couple spelling and grammar books before you post again, lest you mock God and the glory of language He gave to Adam and

the congregation in the pews is hilarious! great job, men!

Speaking of Cain, our human music making was brought to us by his kid, not Seth's. So at some point "pagan" music was appropriated and redeemed by God's people.

@BigD71889 First, apologies for at-replying the wrong user! Second, I would also like to apologize for making the assumption about your Christmas habits. I will confess that I did not actually expect you to abstain from celebrating it. Your commitment to your worldview is as impressive as it is unanticipated. That said, I find said worldview extreme to the point of absurdism. But how you live your faith is between you and God, so I wish you the best in that.

the secular world laughs you to scorn, when you put up so called "religious parodies". Be seperate and stop trying to mimic the world. its embarassing

@drkicksmith The music of the Christian church has been cross contaminated as a result of the church wanting to bring the world into the church, instead being seperate from the world, as the bible commands. We have compromised the purity and holiness of the gospel, in a failed attempt to please the world. The only accep table form of music, is on that glorifies God, not music that is tainted with worldly influence, then thinking God must accept it. Cain tried to do the same thing.

@KenmoreT I dont celebrate Christmas. The bible is abundantly clear, that Jesus was not born in the winter. Christmas is pagan festival, which was celebrated by the romans during the winter solstice. It was used in veneration of their sun god saturn (saturnalia) It was then adopted into christianity by the Roman Catholic Church. There is no authority for its observance in the scripture, but the catholic church does not adhere to the authority of scripture but tradition, so thats expected.
James 4:4, "Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God." And so the Roman Catholic priests once again declare in deafening tones, they are indeed friends with all that is evil and blasphemous in this world. But then, this is to be expected of the house of Antichrist.

@BigD71889 Perhaps you could clarify what you mean. I think there might be some incorrect assumptions you are making.

@drkicksmith Rap and Hip hop was something that originated from a worldly culture, that was not meant to glorify God. It more so glorified self, violence, fornication and other negative themese. For you 2 incorporate that form of music and apply it to the gospel, is a mockery to Jesus Christ. God hates when we mix the holy with the profane. Bible says to be seperate from the world, not to mimick them, and I think this video does Christians a mean injustice.

@BigD71889 I disagree that 'God hates when we mix' rap and Christianity.
Consider contemporary Praise & Worship music; does it not also stem from a secular form: from rock n roll? I must assume that, for you, the only acceptable musical form for a Christian setting is Gregorian chant. My understanding is that, beyond monophonic chant, music in general is tainted with secularity. Rhythm and polyphony certainly cross-contaminated from secular dance and folk musics in the medieval era.

I think this whole thing is getting a little bit romanticised...I'm in the video, I'm pretty sure I came up with the name... it was a bit of fun... and I sure as hell hate rap...

@wigan77 You came up with 'Straight Outta Compline?' I'm somewhat skeptical...
