In 1988 I ran away from home with my best friend- She was 17- only one year older than I was..We were stupid kids from a small town and we thought running away to a big city would be exciting- And like most kids we thought we were invincible so we hitchhiked ..CRAZY?! yeah I know that now ! We had planned to hitch to California but the trucker we ended up with was on his way to NYC so we thought NYC! awesome! The trucker even tried to talk us out of it- saying thats not the place you wanna go unless you got money and a place to stay..But being the headstrong teens that we were... we ventured on. The trucker's stop was in the Bronx and he let us out there in the middle of the night! We had maybe twenty dollars between the both of us- We just walked around for a couple of days- getting offers from people for a place to stay- but I didn't trust any of them (they were prostitutes)
My friend got mad at me and left with one of those people -
My guess is that she was just so tired she just wanted a place to sleep! So we split up- I don't think I have ever been more terrified in my life-and if the woman hadn't rescued me I would probably be a statistic now. I would like to add that this lady was black and I am white.. I put that out there for the racist people who base a person's worth on the color of thier skin. No matter what color of skin she had..she didn't have to help me like she did- she had never seen me before in her life and didn't know me from a hole in the wall..and the way I see it..in that sea of uncaring people all around me this lady shined and I hope this video reaches her and I can tell her I have not forgotten what she did for me. :)

  • hey i wanna run away from my home because of frustration caused by my parents.. bt i just want to know your feeling while running, how many times did u ppl think before running? n how did u run? where did u stay n how did u live? If came back home, why? I seriously don't want any1 to harass me! im just afraid to run.. i decided to run on the day of my exam results. Please girls answer me!!!

  • @girlpower260 first of all- srry so late with reply :( DO NOT runaway from home just because of your exam results - i'm sure it's over by now and i'm sure your parents weren't that hard on you atleast i hope not>.> anyway we ran away on a whim just for adventure which was stupid-we had little to no money..

  • if you must runaway go someplace safe to a friends or relatives someone u can trust : )

  • Wow, you ran away in 88 I did in 86.I got help from people giving me rides, one guy gave me $10 bucks when he dropped me off.I didn't even ask, he said that if the cops got e and I had no money they'd get me for vagrancy.Another Girl picked me up brought me into the city I was going to.I didn't go home for years.I'm glad this worked out for u,any city is scary if unknown, but NYC is the worst. Why did u run?Answer only if u want. Physical abuse is why I did.I was going to have to kill my step-dad.

  • @scumgod13 i ran away cuz i was just wanting adventure really and whenever me and the girl i ran away with got together it was like there was nothing we wouldnt do- we were crazy together- yeah nyc was horrible we got dropped off at like 4 in the morning in the bronx! we had been with a female truck driver - (i swear she was janis joplin's twin) her name was belle she was wild lol but yeh there must have been some serious divine intervention that kept us alive-

we went thru all kinds of hell..

  • @JaYnEsAyZ - Now I feel stupid of even thinking about running away.. yea its over and went really well :) .. I was wrong about my parents, they were never hard on me, they only wished good for me and its proved.. I am proud to have such parents. I shall never leave them. Well i just gotta say i was giving up on simple thing, i need to be more stronger!

  • I have helped them. By giving them money on the streets. At 15 I was a runaway myself, people helped me. I wouldn't bring a runaway into my home or buy them beer/drugs but a meal and a few bucks in their pocket, it's only human.

  • @JaYnEsAyZ Yikes... poor kid btw ty for posting twz vids.
