  • verry VERRY beautiful rendition of one of the song closest to my heart.... my only question.... why the ascots?

  • All of the songs performed at the concert were sea chanteys or connected to the sea. That's way ascots.

  • or anything connected with water ;)

  • there`s a giant owl standing behind the choir...

  • lovely unison sound and controlled vocals for young people lol

  • I love the Shendoah valley, my family has deep connections with it , When I hear this song I think Turner Ashby and Harrisonburg. The song reaches deep into the American heart. The valleys destruction in the Civil War is still remembered. The chorus sings beautifully

  • This is one of my favorite songs and this choir did an awsome job of singing it! Very beautiful!

  • Way too slow? That's a little harsh. The reference standard of this James Erb arrangement is the closing credits of the motion picture "Nixon" performed by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. By the end of the first verse the females are just 4 sceonds behind the MTC. The men do slow up a bit more being 8 seconds behind after their verse. They pretty much stay on course after that and finish not too far behind the MTC. So, it's a bit slower but not enought to detract from the performance. Outstanding

  • Way too slow, i'm afraid. It's only the "rolling river" characteristic that's missing. It's rather a clumsy river instead. It's the conducter's fault, otherwise voices are clear.

  • Whatever. They did a lovely job, the arrangement is gorgeous, in my opinion you are nit picking. Any choir sings songs in other languages and can be expected to sing with an accent.

  • Oh I love this arrangement! So very moving, takes me back in time. 22 years ago I was in an American concert choir that toured Europe with a repertoire of similar songs and we did this one. Don't pay any mind to people who complain about your singing in English with accents. We sang in Latin and other languages with American accents and nobody cared. It's about the music!

  • WOW! this is beautiful! This must be a famous song cause even in South Africa we singing it for a competition in Italy next month!!

  • A lovely rendition of my favorite American folksong, one that's dear to my heart. I'm actually very touched to see a Polish choir performing it, and they certainly did it justice!
