ATT&NW 4-8-4 #801 crossing Miller Gate Crossing, 6-27-08. Thanks to Don "Tennessee" Angles for taking my sister and I pacing so I could get this video and some good pictures!

  • @DJ3751 I totally agree.

  • @Dinosorable The mainline is somewhere around 2 miles long, and it's a point-to-point (and back) run, so about 4 miles round-trip.

  • @Dinosorable No, the runs aren't long enough to warrant that. There is a standpipe, fed by a water tower, at the station where the engine takes on water every trip or two while it's stopped.

  • @standbackandwatch Is the water also for filling the steam engines to make steam?

  • @Dinosorable I think they've been used, in conjunction with a gas-powered pressure washer, to power wash things along the railroad, and they can haul water for putting out small fires, excavation work, etc.

  • @Dinosorable No, they've only carried water, as far as I know. They're left empty most of the time to reduce weight.

  • Do the tank cars at 0:22 and 0:26 really carry gas.
