  • nice video.. i have a severe mitral stenosis too. my doctor at philippine heart center recommend that i'll have a Percutaneous Transluminal Mitral Commisurotomy (ptmc or balloon procedure) instead of valve replacement.. just want to ask, what is the better procedure? valve replacement or ptmc? i'm 36yrs old now..

  • @mhonova PTMC is an interim procedure done in a relatively less diseased valve and when there is no clot inside your heart chamber. Later on you may need a valve repair or replacement procedure. The advantage of this procedure is that it is less invasive and you can enjoy several years of carefree life.

  • i had severe mitral stenois, caused by rehumatic fever.dec15-2010 i had a mechanical valve put it.had my anual checkup..a+ doing great! no complications but my blood goes up to 7.3 low as 1.4 thats scary can cause blood clot around valve.but i have a home montering machine so can check blood every week.for the first time in my life i can sleep on my back.i was told theses valves last 4-ever.im 55 and fell better now then i have in years!!.ty for this video..

  • I'm very interested at your work Dr. My sister was a 31 year-old female with a past medical history of rheumatic fever who presented with symptoms of congestive heart failure. She had been diagnosed with mitral stenosis and underwent percutaneous mitral balloon dilatation a few years earlier. Now she is fine and normal thanks for your video.

  • @rhbulbul in terms of longevity, how many years will it last to have a re-stenosis again with ptmc procedure than a open heart valve replacement? the conclusion of my echocardiogram is severe mitral stenosis with mitral valve area if 0.45 cm2 by planimetry and 0.55 cm2 by pressure half time with mvg of 15 mmHg, with mild mitral regurgitation.. if you are my doctor what will you recommend to me base on my echocardiogram, ptmc or valve replacement? thank you for your reply. GOD BLESS!!!

  • When i was 6 years old I had an aorta operation but 5 years later I start feeling bad again because I had mitral stenosis.
