If youve been following our Twitter feed all day, youve noticed that weve been on the scene in a Gilbertsville development since 11:30 this morning, just off of the Rt. 73 & 100 interchange. John Yannarell, who was being charged with shooting a woman on Rt. 422 in a road rage incident on April Ninth, skipped his court hearing this morning and police feared that he had either barricaded himself in the house or had fled to New Jersey, where he had a boat on a marina. Police then surrounded his house, fearing that he might use a weapon - he owned a handgun and a shotgun. Officers armed with shot guns and automatic weapons could be seen in hiding places around the house, and a K-9 unit was placed behind the property. After a few hours, the paperwork was delivered to allow police to access the house, and two SWAT teams with vehicles moved in toward the property. Over a period of a half hour, over a dozen officers entered the house, and nearly 45 minutes after the initial entry, the officers exited the home and an ambulance pulled up to the entrance. It was later determined by officials that Yannarell was not alive.

They are stating that there was not any foul play involved, but are also not confirming a suicide. They are not releasing any further details. Yannarell was also charged for two other alleged incidents of road rage in September 2009 and in January of this year, another involving shooting at a vehicle. He also had a daughter that was no longer living with him, who was being safely cared for at Boyertown High School.

Several roads in the area were closed off throughout the afternoon. Some students from the high school, Junior High East, and Gilbertsville and Colebrookdale elementary schools had to be picked up by families because bus routes were interrupted.

The autopsy is scheduled to occur today or Friday and authorities will then release more details as to the cause of death.
