I agree with what you say in this video 100%. With every statement you hit the nail right on the head.
I would only add that I think studying classical languages is just as beneficial as learning the so called living languages, except of course in the area of business. But I have actually made more friends on internet through Latin than through many of my modern languages.
And yet I think everyone should study Mandarin Chinese. I mean everyone who wants a truly rich language experience.

@alkantre I have Assimil Mandarin Chinese and we have like 8,000 Chinese slated to come into our country to build a hotel soon so I think I better get crackin' lol!
