That was so incredible! I thought that I was close when a humpback swam under our boat. But, seeing them up close like that must have been insane! Awesome!

On Hervey Bay, Queensland, we'd call that a "mugging". Must've been pretty intimidating on that small boat!

@reniam I see where you are coming from on that, but I personally think if there is a bit of tourism, kind of like this; little rafts going out to see whales, that is certinately not harming anything. And if you do without all the gift shops and eateries it would be perfectly fine. Plus, i think tourism like that makes people more aware of places like this so there is more incentive to protect it.

Yes, a friend of mine in the same zodiac, actually touched one of them. Being so close to them was such an exciting experience. I noticed the strange smell of their breath as well as those high frequency sounds.
