@VpVanja That wasn't Japan's only condition. The Emperor remained on the throne after the bomb as dropped and is still there now - the Allies didn't care about that. It wasn't genocide - they weren't trying to wipe out the Japanese race, even though a lot of people in America would have supported that. If they were, why stop at 2 bombs? Any invasion, involving the Soviets or not, would have been utterly horrific - imagine Stalingrad scaled up to a whole country.

@MrOdsplut Soviet invasion would be have been just enough, Japan's only condition was the the emperor remains on the throne, that isn't that much of a price compared to atomic bombs. And the death toll of that bombing is not only 200 000 that died instantly. Radiation poisoning, cancers, damaged DNA that got carried on by generations, well if you believe so I can not change your opinion, but I still think it was a genocide, a nuclear holocaust.

@VpVanja And also they dropped leaflets of Hiroshima warning civilians that is was going to be destroyed by bombing and telling them to evacuate. And they picked it because of its military significance, instead of bombing somewhere like Tokyo.

@VpVanja Yes Japan was offering peace, but peace on conditions that wouldn't have changed the militaristic governemt in Japan, so they would have remained a threat, and conditions that Japanese war criminals wouldn't be tried. Even if the Soviets did help with an invasion, the Japanese martial culture would have stopped them from surrendering until both them and the Allies had been devastated. There was even a coup attempt to stop the surrender after the nukes.

@czj10 When Japan or Germany took over a county they totally dominated it. When America got unconditional surrender from Japan, she built a few bases because of the Cold War, but other than that Japan was not colonized or treated like slaves like the Japanese did to people when they conquered them, ie China and Korea. Do you think the Japanese would have treated the US as well if the war had been the other way around? Hell no. A little mercy goes a long way towards building good will.

americans nuked cities cause they wanted to test the effects of the a-bomb on cities. What i don't understand is how the Japanese people have been and still are licking amreican balls.

@MrOdsplut Would have probably forced Japan to surrender. End if that wasn't able to force japan the USA could always drop nukes after trying without them. But no they rushed to show the world how dangerous they were.
