Live TV version March 2, 1973. MSpecial. Fantastic slide and wah-wah guitar by Pete Ham. This version is a cross between the two that came out on CD. They used to lengthen it for a long jam on many tours. http://www.badfingerlibrary.com for more info - great site! Day After Day Baby Blue No Matter What Come And Get It Name Of The Game

  • Pete Ham was such a badass!

  • Ironically, "Suitcase" was written by Joey.

Joey doesn't get enough credit, probably because he's screwed up repeatedly by munging remasters etc. However, I saw Badfinger at the Roxy in 1979 ("Airwaves" era) and they were great!

All the original members of the band were really excellent musicians, singers, and songwriters. Pete's probably the best of 'em, but ya gotta give credit to the whole band for all the wonderful harmony singing.

  • @wwekane2468 Yep. Different version. P90 pickups (instead of Pete's humbuckers) and no vibrato tail (as Pete's had)

  • @smilinstevie88 Joey had an sg of his own.

  • fuck, fuck, fuuuuuuuck!!!!!! a pure talent, beautiful spirit, and friendship gets destroyed by fucking corporate New York scumbag, a pig in a fucking suit. But fuck it Badfinger are the winners in any case cause their music lives on and that is something nobody can touch, steal, betray, backstab or take away from them.I just wish Pete and Tom were here with us today.

  • This video should have three million views. No other band can touch Badfinger.

  • I MET JOEY THE OTHER DAY hes actually really cool and a nice guy

  • I love when Tom sings the vocal at the end. He should have sang the whole song. His voice is amazing.

There is no doubt that Pete Ham was the lead guitar player for the band. If you look at each song and count who plays lead and who plays rhythm, you'll find Pete played lead on way more songs. Plus, as Mike Gibbins once said, he could absolutely play circles around Joey. And that is saying something because Joey was a hell of a guitar player.

  • I think Badfinger let Joey Molland call himself the "lead guitar" player, just to make him feel better. This song and many others showcase the true"lead guitar" player of Badfinger, that guitarist being the extremely gifted, incredibly talented, Peter William Ham.

  • excuisite,,they had so much more to give us, sometimes life just aint fair,,

  • @BandOnTheRun87 - I have the same question. Where's Pete's famous SG given to him by George Harrison? That was his signature guitar. He seemed to use it on almost all his performances and recordings. Joey looks like he's using a red SG like Pete's. I wonder if they just switched guitars for this MS performance?

  • Tommy Evans had such a rocking voice. He always gets a lot of credit for being a songwriter, but if you look at Badfinger's catalog he wrote much fewer songs than Ham and Molland (although the songs he did write were excellent). I just wish we could have seen him sing lead more often. He has a great stage presence. Really, all of them do.
