  • I loved this ident, living in Northamptonshire we received both Anglia and ATV/Central ..Thames was the best ITV region and was such a travesty when it lost its franchise.. pity the regions have gone and become ITV1

  • From Norwich, its the quiz of the week!

  • Living in Dublin, I remember this ident preceding the Sale of the Century. The top prize was the then new style 1980 Ford Escort so I guess my memory is from 1981. I thought all the ITV idents were great. They are missed.

  • @redcardinalist lol! London is getting too expensive! That's why so many parts of the BBC have moved to Media City (Europe's largest Media complex) in Salford. The new ITV studios at the complex are going to be enormous! And by the way, I am not from Manchester, just Lincoln. Thought! Why do ITV sell all their programmes abroad through Granada Ventures? Although I see the ITV Titanic mini series was actually filmed in a land-locked country! They could have used the Ship Canal!

  • @lincsposter

London is King don't forget - If you're not SE England you're little people (tm) ;)

  • @DANWOODHOUSE

Is it the worst identity? Is it worse than a logo (which is all most regions had)? Take HTV for instance. Is Aanglia's Knight worse than that? :)

  • @eclectica1 I have 2 editions of Gambit as I collect classic game shows.

  • Of course everyone associates this ident with Sale Of The Century, but how many of you remember Gambit?

  • Angles were germanic tribes, weren't they?

  • @tjathome2002 The reason why it lost its franchise? Because Thatcher punished Thames for the "Death on The Rock" documentary, which was Thames produced.

  • I'm surprised that Anglia used the knight as late as 1987, because it doesn't fit that knid of era.

  • I used to watch Knightmare as a kid,but the ident was a flag. But i remember this from Tales of the Unexpected. That music gives me chills every time, never mind the opening title sequence with the dancing woman and the skulls and devil picture. It is strange what impressions stay with you from childhood.

  • @Feisty1967 Oh yes since the 1960s. Some luckier people with TVs could receive programmes from Ulster TV from Northern Ireland via aerials.
