African American Library at the Gregory School located at 1300 Victor Street in Houston, Texas 77019 is the newest of three special collections operated by the Houston Public Library. The first library of its kind in Houston, aind one of the few African American libraries in the country, the Gregory School will serve as a resource to preserve, promote, and celebrate the rich history and culture of African Americans in Hoston, the surrounding region, and the African Diaspora. The African American Library at the Gregory School is the inspiration of former Houston Mayor Lee P. Brown. A few of those on hand for the ceremony were Houston Mayor Bill White, Congresswoman Shelia Jackson Lee, and many others. Also pictured in this video is Gene Locke, Annise Parker, Ron Reynolds, Joe Jaworski and others. Houston Business Connections Newspaper is published by Aubrey R. Taylor Communications.
