82nd airborne division run, 5-19-08

this is the division run for the entire 82nd airborne down in fort bragg/ fayetteville, nc. i took this short clip with my phone, so please excuse the quality.

Maybe from Rear D... My husband was deployed at that time. He is not 101 He is division. He didnt come back with his entire group till later that year. Also if it was Bush who came to the run, that was because 82nd had alot of problems with the barracks and they needed to be fixed. Not becuase everyone was home. Sorry to burst the bubble so to speak. Anywho doesnt really matter I guess! have a good day!

@82ndABNwife08 Haha, it may have been a combined trip? Those barracks were aweful.

My boyfriend worked security for the run, and told me that they had to up security b/c the president was coming to the run to watch it, so I know the president was there specifically for the run (whilst inspecting the barracks).

Ya, *some* of every brigade was back, I'm not saying every single person was there, but some of every group was there. It was a rare thing.

Was this run for everyone or is everyong??? Because if it was everyone... then that is wrong, because at that specific point in time half of bragg was in iraq.

@82ndABNwife08 My boyfriend had just gotten back from Afghanistan a few weeks prior to this.This is the *82nd* Airborne Division run.There are more divisions than just the 82nd at Ft. Bragg. It may be true that members of the 101st and other divisions at Bragg were still in Iraq of Afgh,but the 82nd had participants from all 4 of its brigades running in the run that day.The president even visited the run that day b/c it was the first time in a long time that all 4 brigades of the 82nd were there

I was more than likely at this run. My company finished 16 months in Afghanistan April 2008 and couldnt go on leave until All American Week was over. That was a few months for prepping and all that. I remember talking to some units that had literally just gotten back from IQ and couldnt go on leave to see their families. This is part of the reason why Im glad to be out. 82nd doesnt look after its troopers or their families.

and not the entire 82nd airborne. i was with 3rd brigade in iraq during that, 3rd brigade wasnt really in the run, minus rear detatchment maybe.
