Human Trafficking is modern day slavery. It is the second largest criminal industry in the world and yields an estimated $9 billion in profit each year. Human Trafficking is a high-profit, low-risk endeavor for traffickers and often carries penalties far less severe than that of drug trafficking. For that reason, there is now an international and domestic market the trade of human beings.
Nationally about 450,000 children run away from home each year, and of those runaways approximately 150,000 become victims of domestic minor sex trafficking each year. 1 out of every 3 teens on the street will be lured toward prostitution within 48 hours of leaving home.
Everyone should be aware of this serious problem.
