  • Yes it's called sarcasm. Albert used to say he was only a reporter..he didn't invent racism.

Albert was a world class intellect and humour according to his myriad friends in Barcelona and New York, NY. ¿Who the fuck are you?

"Fuck you" -Catcher in the Rye

  • I've meet him once in a bar here in Barcelona (Catalonia) it was in a cloudy morning in 2004 and he was unable to pay the bill, the barman was being rude, he didn't sleep during the night and he was obviously drunk. I came to him and said, "You can't pay the bill, huh?" I felt sorry for him, and I paid it. He then shake my hand and took something from his bag, it was a CD and he signed it to me. Once in my home I played it and I have 5 beautiful Albert Owens songs. I've never saw him again.

  • Do you realize how that comment could be construed as offensive? A "white man in a black man's body"? Why? Because he was intelligent, articulate and concise? Because his comedy was loaded with sarcasm, irony, parody and didn't consist of 'big dick' jokes? A "normal" black man isn't sophisticated enough to form & convey sarcasm!? Only a "white man in a black man's body" can do that? You need to examine what it is about your views of blacks that would prompt you to make a comment like that.

  • back in the early 80s i would go down to the park and watch albert almost every day . i think i knew his material better then him. just learned of his passing now by this site. when did he die? albert r.i.p.

  • I just heard the sad news of Albert's passing.

Albert was the first steet comic to show me the ropes. I've seen him work his magic in the fountain of Washington Square Park hundreds of times. Rest well, brother Albert.

  • Albert was a white man in a blck mans body and made fun of himself. One of the kindest people you ever wanted to meet. Offstage he

always took the high road. Never spoke about anything or anybody with any sort of negativity. It's sad to see him end up the way he did. If he would have gotten a real break in the business he would have inspired a lot of people. He was the classic story of someone left the cake out in the rain.

  • A now to help celebrate black history month, Hew is a word from Albert...haha
