Performance poem by Callie Thompson about the night of Obama's victory, the ensuing street party in Austin, Texas, what Barack Obama's election means to us, and how we can create our futures to be exactly what we want them to be.
Performed in Gainesville, Florida on the Winter Solstice at the Veteran's for Peace Concert.
Filmed by Mirando Castro (the up close footage) and JoLaine Pokorney.
This is so inspiring: to keep moving forward - thanks for posting. It does make a difference whether you speak in Gainesville FLA or Washington DC during inauguration - and yes in speaking Elizabeth Alexander didnt connect as Ellie did with her audience, but she spoke about the same love.....

this girl should have been the one to write the inauguration poem instead of the older lady with hardly any talent and embarrasingly painful pacing. this is really good :]

I feel such sorry for you, calliehelen. You are going to be smothered with angry invective from disgruntled right wing whack-jobs who just can't stand having lost. Try to remember how you felt in 2004 (or 2000, OY!) Then you can relate better to their frustration at watching the other team advance the ball for 4 downs.
Congratulations on seeing such a moving event.
