Why is there a 2 TO 2.5 inch pipe used?? Can't it be just one or the other? Curious before I start cutting. Great Idea.

I'd would suggest cutting all the short pieces first (2 to 2.5" long) then dry fit them togeather with the fittings. Once you do that measure the length needed for the top tube.
