About 71% of Portugal/Azores were Jews. My moms family is Catholic, but they are Jews. Its sad, because my grandmothers, both of them were ashamed to be Jews :(

@ugha323a There's nothing to be ashamed about being a Jew in Portugal. Portugal's former president, Jorge Sampaio, is a Jew according to the rabbinic tradition. The distinction between New Christians (Jews converted to Christianity) and Old Christians was abolished in 1772, in Portugal. Maybe apart from 1 or 2 quite isolated actions by skinheads in graveyards, I never in my life noticed any discrimination against Jews in Portugal. Even during the regime of Salazar there were Jews in public life.
