I actually have played the game when I was young, and to your surprise, I still own the cartridge. One of the first titles that I got initially when I purchased the system. (or my parents did)

Phoenix (火の鳥) is a manga series by Osamu Tezuka. (鳳凰編 ho-ō-hen) The fifth volume, originally serialized in 1969-1970. One-eyed and one-armed young man Gao (我王), an ancestor of Saruta. He attacks a sculptor, Akanemaru, and the two men's paths diverge, but their fates remain linked. Akanemaru becomes obsessed with the Phoenix to the point that he loses sight of his original dreams. So 火の鳥 鳳凰編 我王の冒険 = The ho-ō-hen of Phoenix: Gao's Adventure.
