Wow $1495-$1685 for a new motor!why so much?arent they same as 20 yrs ago just some magnets with and copper wires? then through in the price of 4 batterys($50-$75).for this to realy take off and over run gas the prices have to be where its cheap easy and available for the averange joe who never has more then a $100 bill left each week after the bills get paid.
"first, i hated knowing how my scooter had such terrible emissions, so decided to charge my batteries with electricity from a coal burning power plant instead"
Actually, there are several wrong-assumptions in your statement. One - the amount of carbon produced via burning gas in a scooter with no emission control is VASTLY WORSE than collecting energy via tradition power plants. And Two: In NorCAl where I live, our power grid had more renewables (wind, solar, geothermal) than most places, so using the grid here is way better than using gas. Encourage renewables where you live and get yourself a cleaner grid too! Thanks for the comment!
Good attitude. What about using aluminium alloy tubing etc, to reduce weight and LED lighting to reduce power consumption. Some solar panels around the body to help recharge and 2 small dc generator working of the wheel to help recharge.
