Obergurgl top to bottom (skiing)(austria)

First go with my new camera so sorry for the poor quality. It is literally top to bottom, im a fast skier but obergurgl is tiny for somene of my ability. At the time i went at (april) it was rock solid snow in the morning and slush by the end of the afternoon. So i let my family stay at the hotel when i snuck out to get the fast snow when noone was out reaching great speeds, although it was a bit bumpy as the austrians clearly havnt mastered the piste basher yet! but i had fun. my family wasted their time in bed as they are not experts (far from it). There were some sudden steep bits that were really scary especially when your speeding. This was filmed at the end of the day. But at the best of times it was pretty fun. There were very few drag lifts, i counted two. they have gondolas just going up to one run and almost every chair has a canopy so your safe from the elements. The resteraunts were amazing, and compared to france the austrians are hopeless at run markings, sometimes there are none and sometimes they dont follow the piste map at all. generally there all over the place!


anyway point being.... good food, good (but not demandingeven blacks), good backdrop good people and good lifts (swift and comfy)

bad points are that its a bit too low down for my liking and the poor run marking becomes a problem in low visibility, the runs are great for me but variable for beginners especially in the morning. and the variablility of black runs was too much, one was unbeleivably easy but a little dangerous as their was a 50ft. cliff face at the end with no barrier, and one was almost a french black.

perhaps it didnt help that i had been to flaine a few months back with amazing powder and 100s of miles of piste (i was there for a week and barely scratched the surface.

P.S. Did u ever go over to Hochgurgl and go up to the top mountain star cause the black up there was like the hardest the EVER.

@Gabbers98 yeah although the gondola ride over took its time. And yes i did the black, it was good fun early in the morning when it was super icy :) The great thing about that run at that time of day was that you were almost definitely the only one there and if you hit the right spot it made for nice turns. But if you fell or stopped it was un-nerving getting going again. In other words it was tricky, most of the folk i was with didnt go. Not being modest but it comes with the job description :D
