The late Rosalie Allen and Patsy Montana were America's reigning Yodeling Queens. Janet McBride's high-powered yodeling over the past five decades has left no doubt that she is indeed the Yodeling Queen. I met this fantastic person at the 1999 Avoca Festival. Both Janet and her husband, John Ingraham are also retired Deputy Sheriffs.

Sonny Rodgers Yodelers Paradise Show at the August 2000 Avoca Old Time Country Music Festival. This 3-hour show was one of Avoca's most popular attractions featuring Yodelers from around the world. In spite of week-long temperatures relentlessly hovering between 97 and 100 degrees, the performers gave it their all and the fans endured.

These excerpted clips represent some of the best performances. There are some audio glitches, of which I wasn't aware until I got home and watched the playbacks. Out of 10 film cassettes I shot, two of them suffered from this defect.
This would also be Sonny Rodgers last Avoca attendance. His cancer reappeared and the Good Lord called him home in July 2001.

  • This is a joke try Ansambelj Nagelj

No joke at all. Janet McBride is America's reining Yodeling Queen. She has been at it for over 50 years. Perhaps you should read the "Show more" section. Jewel is the daughter of the one and only Yodeling Slim Clark, hence her country music and yodeling background is just as authentic.

  • @BY1NO1 Just saying i come from a country where every second person can yodel.

  • @JedaFire

That might be so, however, your comment really come across that way. Yodeling is not exclusive to one country or culture. It sprang up in many world-wide cultures and forms, almost first as a form of communication. When it took on its musical form, all of us yodelers developed our own different styles. Janet's style is different from mine, as mine is different from Randy Erwin, Greta Elkin, McDonald Craig, Stew Calyton, Joyce Leonard, etc...

  • Thanks. She's holding up pretty well, under the circumstances. Please visit her website and let her know. I'm sure she'd enjoy hearing from you.

  • This is indeed sad news. RIP John and my prayers are with you Janet. I know you are strong and with God's loving arms you will survive and continue your wonderful singing and yodeling for all of us. It's a sad day. :(

  • my daddy caught me watchin this and we both started dancin along

  • Sorry to hear about Mr. Ingram... Janet was a neighbor of ours when I was a kid--she lived directly across the street from us in Redondo Beach, CA (a real CW hotbed!). My own memories are vague, but my folks remember her very well. "Sweet" and "fantastic" don't begin to describe her.

  • RIP John Ingram. This man was a treasure. He had one of the biggest hearts and brightest personalities I've ever seen and I'm honored to have called him a friend. My brother and I have known John and Janet for close to ten years now. Although he's no longer with us in person, he'll always be in our hearts. I know he's in a better place now and he can yodel with Janet from above. We'll miss you dearly, old friend.
