Technology is the future. and there is no instrument police to outlaw instruments no matter what they are. Sorry to break it to you. People will still use acoustic/electric guitars
This is actually more closely related to a keyboard because that is basically what this is but in a guitar hero controller form.

The Guitar Zeros have an extensive tutorial on how to do something similar on a Windows machine on their website. Youtube isn't letting me post the link though, so you'll have to google it.
