This just started out as a bit of a giggle to remake the theme tune into something more modern. I finished the tune last night and today decided to quickly do a montage of clips since its 40 years since UFO hit the screens. First shown in 1970, this series had a darker tinge to it than the morally simplistic TV sci fi that was the norm around then. Although flawed (and in some ways outright cheesey), overall it was excellent for its time. Many of the fx were as good as you could find on TV. Some aspects have dated badly (not least of which the theme tune) but its interesting how many predictions the makers got right - the prevelence of computers in our lives, space junk and any other number of things that you can easily read on wiki. Some things they got very wrong and its amusing to see people smoking on submarines, spaceships, the moonbase and pretty much everywhere.
Given the slightly darker nature of the show, this gem would likely greatly reward any enterprising production company that decided to get in touch with the Andersons and see about a reboot. But lets go along darker more adult lines than Space Precinct please. Cheap sci-fi channel fodder is dime a dozen, this should be treated with a bit more weight. Less cheese, more threat.
Anyway, I hope nobody takes offense at my observations and I hope you enjoy this version of the theme. Be warned, I've ripped out most of the original (like 99%) when I realised that aside from the main riff, most of the music would be very difficult to update without shoehorning it into something very awkward or overly complicated. I was very ruthless with it. That said, it was great fun to play around with.
I mean what I say about humvees though :D
Apparently there is a reboot in the works!

@LMichaelL65 Oooh nice. I looked around a little while ago - about the time I did this but not checked since. Time to go googling :)

Hi Von, cheers :)
Aye, worked the music up from scratch, although because of the speed with which I put it together there are a few stock drum loops in it.
