Self hate Latinas

well i made this video beacuse i wanted to express myself how i felt about the situation..how latinas(also latinos) can sometimes hate themselves beacuse we not might have longer noses, round faces, lighter skin(look more white) and i grew up thinking like this. i wanted to look more white, during that time i couldnt udnerstand why i wanted to be like this, till later. i realized that i grew up in a society where i had witnessed being white had its advantages... well this video is to ALL our latinas who come in different shades of color and different countries, but we must all love ourselves, i hope this helps some of us who are still in that stage or who experienced my similar situation....just peep my video...PEACE

i remember when puerto rico had its first dark skin latina miss universe.. and the judges asked her "Do you think that as a latin american with african ancestors you are discriminated against in our countries" and she looked down and took a while to answer and said "yes" because its true. the spanish put in their heads that the whiter you are the better, and thats wrong. In brazil it different. Instead of self hater towards their african ancestors, they hate act ashamed of their native blood

no way honey the darker the better you're good the way you are, nothing wrong with colour and dark hair, especially dark curly hair omg, try being white thank god i'm not too white you know like pale white like 5 mins in the sun you get sun burnt white thank the good god no way color is good very good you guys are lucky all you latinos arabs and blacks color is awesome and sexy

in mexico, when they still discriminated against the natives and african slaves who were brought to that country(way before america took alot of mexicos land) it was documented that 45 women, children, and males of african ancestry were tortured and beaten, beheaded and had their heads stuck on poles in the center of mexico city by the mestizos(because the spanish let their mixed kids do all the dirty work). there are afro latinas who would die to look the way you do

I think being a lighter latina you have it alot easier. Its one thing to be a latina with native american features, its another to be a latina with african blood also. back in harder times, the children who were mixed with spanish(mestizos) thought that just because they came out light that they were some how better than their native american mothers. If they thought that low of native americans imagine how low they thought of africans

I think alot of the pressure to look more white also comes from the media as well… on Tv in the united states and latin america they mostly show lighter skin latinas, never the darker ones who look more native, or the ones who are of african background, just the ones who look more white or white latinas period, even in places where the majority of latinas are darker.
