I think it'd be pretty rare to hear "I'm loony about ~."
It'd be much more common to hear "I'm loony for ~."
Like: "I'm loony for Loony Toons."
or
"I'm loony for Ayumi Hamasaki."
You'd never hear "I'm screwy about/for ~" or "I'm deranged about/for ~."
The only time you'd hear "nuts" or "bananas" used in such a way is "I'm bananas about bananas" or "I'm nuts about nuts," which are both kind of silly plays on words.
we named our cat Kurukurupa...the name fits him well
