Using a Views filter will keep the content out of the list that Views builds, but the node will still be accessible to a user who can find the path (such as node/1234) and access it that way without going through the View first. Whether this is actually a problem for your site or not is up to you.

That's so easy module. Thanks for the great tutorial.
I was doing that the custom way. Making a date field called "Publish Date" then adding a filter in my view that will display conent <= to now.
Or you can make this using "Rules" module. Create the date field. Then make a rule that will trigger on cron run for example. And publish all the content that the publish date is <= now.
