This was the final tape out of the original eight Christmas tapes and was mainly composed by Paul Sawtell of The Test Card Circle and contained a track which was first aired on BBC television in December 1985 but contained a track entitled Patapan which was used in a BBC schools programme transmitted on Radio 4 in the 1980s. Enjoy!!!!

  • Great festive tape The Carol of the Bells it was first aired on 16th December 1985 but it was too early to start the Christmas festive tape should be originally start official date 23rd December 1985 up to Boxing Day

  • bloody its like 1974 all over again! i love it

  • @cwilliams1976 Yes, I think I heard it as well (I suffer from insomnia when i'm excited, so was evidently excited for christmas). Unfortunately, my NICAM Ferguson Videostar was broken at the time, so couldn't tape it :(

  • Is the patapan track not on this one? Where can I find it please? Thanks.

  • I do believe that this was a completely different version of this traditional song - it was used several times over that Christmas.

  • Sadly, no, though I did hear it at the time. The Test Card Circle publishes a list of which tapes were played and when, with exact logs from 2005.

Google for "Test Card Circle Ceefax Log".

  • Not a Christmas tape I remember too much about, but there were a few good tunes, more likely in the 2nd half I think.
