Join Sunny Savage on an amazing trip to Peru! See some common plants, nettles, wild radish greens, wild amaranth, wild mustard, dandelion, wood sorrel, and watercress, you can find on the Incan Trail.

Then Freddy Munoz, from Llama Path takes Sunny to a market where we see and learn about ways to use plants that are edible and medicinal, from the heart of the Inkan empire. Peru hosts over 260 biomes.

Sunny's wild food television series Hot on the Trail with Sunny Savage airs on Veria Network (DISH channel 218 and Verizon FIOS channel 162).
See http://veria.com/hot-on-the-trail.html for show times and more information.

  • Sunny, hunny!

You sound like you are fighting a cold! Remember, we chatted about wild sea greens and I have posted you to my blog.

So amazing that you, and others, have felt drawn to go to south america!

i wish i could be there but i'm up here on the beautiful north coast of Oregon...in the rainforest paradise.

Come visit us soon! There is a warm yurt waiting!

  • Hola LunaDauhnn!

May you be blessed with joy, good health, prosperity, and delicious food in 2008. I had a wild night of salsa dancing and lost my voice...but at least I didn't feel sick. South America definitely calls to me. I think the deep jungle is calling.

So I landed myself a wild food adventure TV show and I think we'll be filming blackberries in your area late August. Hopefully that warm yurt will still be there so I can pay you a visit. :)

    much love, ~sunny

  • Thank you so much, Sunny! Did you collect herbarium specimens or otherwise identify species and subspecies? Looking forward to more...

  • Hola!

No, I had no identification books to be identifying botanical names/species/subspecies. I'm really hoping to go back to the jungle someday, but am a bit afraid I might never come out. :) Hopefully I can go with a group dedicated to the plants and learn more of their intimate parts :)

    cheers, ~sunny

  • Wow! This sure makes me homesick for Cuzco, the Sacred Valley, and Machu Picchu.

  • I found it interesting to see that they have and use fennel there too! So many herbs grow in many different countries!

  • This was great Sunny! I loved hearing what Freddy had to say about the earth. Wise words we could all live by. And the plants and how they are used was wonderful information. It was great to see another side of Peru. Thanks for sharing this!
