so much turbine knowledge fail here too.
oh my god, the space shuttle only goes 23,000 miles per hour?
call of duty 12 lets me shoot 2 flamethrowers at the same time while i'm rappelling out of my f16 into the chuck norris infested swamps of south east asia!!!
this is real jet turbine tech.
it aint an engine off a stealth fighter, there is no government weapons sponsorhip money here.
this is some home tinkering and hobbying here.
quit hating and post YOUR own vids.

94 dislikes for people that chew rubber bands since the last longer.. Scratch built works for me, if you wanted to play be the clock,,,,solid boosters would be better, except you couldn't fit your balls in the seat!

this is the problem with turbine engines, the starting is really slow, but when they take some acceleration, they can reach incredible speed

@turbinebuilder why not mate ;) ignore the haters. They probably just read a load of stuff and dont even have control of there own shed!

Great video and build! I'm making a very similar engine (see my channel)! My question to you is, where did you manage to get that JFS-100 power turbine section?
I'm on a budget, and most say they'd sell for $2,500 (like avon aero, etc).
Just curious, Thanks!

Very cool! Never seen anything like that before. Excellent job! Do you still mess with this stuff?

Thats amazing!

Epic engineering!

Did anyone else expect it to be fast? Rick rolled....

What model engine does this kart have? How much horsepower and torque does it generate? Is it street legal? If so, where can I buy one?

HUH HUH HUH He said shaft....
maybe I should clear some things up since some people can't read. This kart was built as a hobby project. I built the twinshaft turbine from scraps, it is not a commercial turbine - therefor is not going to give you commercial results. Had it been a thrust engine, it would have been around 150lbs of thrust. Extracting power from the exhaust to turbine energy is much more efficient. I wasn't going for any speed records, just a safe place to run this home built contraption.

maybe I should clarify something for the ignorant. This was a complete HOMEBUILT turbo shaft engine. Nothing commercial about it. It wasn't supposed to run 3 seconds at the strip, I was just there to test it out. Second, its not thrust powered, the turbojet exhaust is converted to shaft power via a power turbine, which drives the wheels. Its low RPM, high torque.
