I am absolutely shocked that after this race, seeing the size of the crowds in the grandstands, that this didnt get REAL popular down under. maybe they should run a v-8 supercar race there during the endurance portion of the season. and to make it special get marcos ambrose and another cup guy to run a car together in the race.itb be cool to see an oval race with a mandatory driver change.

When did they hold this race in 1988? I heard something like it was after the Richmond 400, so is it in the spring? Miss the days when the schedule allowed for the trips like this... Helped short track racing too when the guys could come run the smaller tracks.

...This was the first time a NASCAR event had been staged outside North America and it proved so popular that many of the same drivers returned for another race at the Thunderdome that December, along with three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Johnny Rutherford."
