My buddy Dave "Bractune, of The Kimberly Trip (featured on 'drums') and Paul Imel (on Bass) came by to help out with another tune, entirely, and when we were done with that, we let ourselves loose on this brand new tune about Joan of Arc...as well as a few other Junkyard songs (stay tuned)...
Originally, I was going to title is French-born peasant girl, but Joan's name doesn't appear anywhere in the lyrics.
I am finding that I enjoy writing "name" songs, where a person's name is mentioned because not only is it a little story, in and of itself, but for some people who share the name, they make a connection to the song.
In this instance, the path I took was heavy research. The song didn't come together as quickly as it usually does, but I'm glad I took the time with it. It's fast become one of my favorites and I hope it becomes one of yours too.
Please enjoy the tale of Joan of Arc...

Lyrics

-=Lyrics=-
Verse 1
=====
She was -- undeniably beautiful as the daughter of a farmer
And she -- thought it was beautiful when the angels spoke to her
She hugged -- her daddy and her mommy, (Isabelle Romeè) and cropped her hair
'cuz
It's not -- wise to ignore commands from a blessed Deity, Aw can't ya' see?
CHORUS
======
She was a French-born peasant girl!
A French-born peasant girl!
Verse 2
=====
They tried almost every other tactic, embarrassingly tragic, it was almost slapstick
Then she showed up with a permission slip for the division to blast their asses down
Let's raise the town, behind...
CHORUS
======
The French-born peasant girl!
The French-born peasant girl!
BRIDGE
=====
With her standard held up high, against the war torn sky
Who'd have thought she'd change the world
It was A ten decade fight -- and she knew that she was right
'Til thrice they burned her at the stake...
So much for give and take
(spoken) "Merci Dauphin Charles" (French -- pronunciation "Mare-see doo-fah-Shar")
Verse 3
=====
Her trial -- So ecclesiastical practically gymnastic-al, a travesty...
Unfair -- imprisoned in a tower, the woman of the hour
Thought that she could fly -- Still she would die..."
CHORUS
======
A French-born peasant girl!
French-born peasant girl!
French-born peasant girl!
French-born peasant girl!
