After winning the Cox Plate, this tough galloper took on the best and won the richest WFA race in the world.

  • I can't remember the last Aust horse in the JC. That's the thing I like about SYT going to Ballydoyle. There's too much money in Aust for good 1 1/4 - 1 1/2 horses to warrant them traveling. Now we get to see our best horse on a world scale. I actually tink that SYT is both unproven & untapped. Be interesting to see how he goes for Aiden O'Brien. I think the best horse other than M&P to not go to Japan was Northerly. 1 1/2 at set weights on a front-runners track - he would have killed them. JMO.

  • @bgardiner2000 ..The only down side to SYT going to Coolmore is that he wont race in Dubai. 2000m on the new Tapeta surface would have been perfect for him.

Agree with you on MP and Northerly, easily our best chances since BLU if they travelled. Saintly would have done a similar job had he not got sick I reckon.

  • この馬は、ジャパンカップ勝馬で最強だと思います。

  • What is that in English dude?

  • I went looking for the "Aussie" call of this race a couple of months ago...and couldn't find anything...the Japanese call didn't quiet do it for me....thanks for posting this.

Now tell me u have the "Good call" of the

    Waverly star/bone crusher cox plate?

  • You'll find the good call on here a few times

  • M&P actually did go to japan but was scratched on Arrival, ! very disappointing, I think had the race at his mercy and with that international win would have gone down as the best horse of the last 20 years. Growing up in Melbourne I would say in the 90's watching the Japan Cup was the greatest spectacle racing wise outside of Australia, these days the focus for aussies has shifted to Hong Kong and the UK, heartbreaking seeing Naturalism go down by a nose!

  • Better Loosen Up is so underrated. What a champion.

  • bgardiner2000, blu didn't get his butt handed to him by Let's Elope. he'd been out for ages with a bowed tendon and was far from fighting fit. just have a good look at the 92 cox plate, blu would've won it if not for let's elope and the log jam at the end, nevermind the horrible ride from S.D.Marshall

  • How good is that race call! What is best is that Better Loosen Up played it like he always did saving his best for the straight. Gives me chills. Thanks for posting!

  • @tigerrish The up-side though is that he's 10's for the Arc. One of the most important things I think from his win in the Mackinnon & his run in the Cup is that he had no problems handling the sting out of the track.

The Euros are still calling him unproven. And I guess they're right in many ways. The 2nd best performed horse of the spring was Zipping. A great horse, but he IS 9... Shoot Out, Whobegotyou? Hardly the calibre of Fame & Glory & Workforce. Can't wait to see how he fairs with AO.

  • @bgardiner2000 Yeah, I can't believe it's 20 years. So You Think would be great there, but I can't remember the last time we sent a horse over for it. Would've loved to seen the likes of Might and Power or the Diva over there

  • I can't believe that was 20 years ago. Honestly, if So You Think doesn't go to Japan for the Cup I'm quitting horse racing. What a horse he was... and he got his butt handed to him by the original grand empress of Australian horse racing Let's Elope in their match race. What an era of racing.
