  • I especially like the marketplace scece. Milos Forman did a superb job recreating the period places. The French marketplace of the 18th century has what you'd expect. A myriad of vendors, fom the mundane to the exotic; butter, cheese, bread, fruits, wine, meats, flowers, pasteries. Literally the butcher, the baker, and the candlestick maker. Also, you have a dentist extracting a tooth, an accountant at his desk, live animals in their stalls, authenticity everywhere! Thanks for re-uploading!

  • @ice22marble You're welcome.:)

  • anyone know if there's a specific name for the tub Merteuil is sitting in?

  • @boykin1324 I'm sorry. I have no idea. But I like that tub.

  • @ice22marble I continue to enjoy this particular movie even more than the more famous one. I wish all three movies I know of had followed the book. Now, THAT would be super interesting! Forman had very good casting on this movie, also. My spouse and I feel the part of Cécile was better cast in this one, for example.

  • @slobomotion Thank you. The setting and the location, indeed the atmosphere was very apropos. Milos Forman chose exceedingly well.

  • @ice22marble Filmed in Meaux, France, where it is said Joan of Arc died in hiding with her brother's family.

  • V:Is this a declaration of war?

    M:if you wish.

For a scene thats percieved as the climax of the novel and staple of all 4 film versions, this one's the most downplayed.

  • eww what an evil man! and what an evil woman!!!!!! the boy who cecily loves is so cute!! :D

  • One of the last scenes of this movie was shot in Meaux, in France, at a place people can still visit for free. It is where he buys the second hand clothes. It is said that Joan of Arc quietly ended her days in Meaux, in the household of her brother.

  • @boykin1324

found that on wikipedia : Slipper tubs - where one end is raised and sloped creating a more comfortable lounging position.

  • I didn't see this from the beginning. I should have. How sadistic that they take such enjoyment in ruining others lives. I'm glad this boy has figured out how they operate. One thing though. The girl was so sure of Danceny before getting a necklace and being impressed with the older man's connections, then she changes her mind. She just seems stupid even if she's only 15. I'm starting to believe Danceny is too good for her. I don't blame him for putting a sword to this ladies neck. Hag.
