Scrap dealers pay 3 dollars per pound of copper which is then easily melted down and resold. The real thieves are the scrap dealers who don't care where the product comes from. They are the ones who should be put in jail the next time someone is electrocuted stealing copper.

Why is copper theft a global problem? It hasn't always been that way. Is it maybe because copper is too expensive? Maybe we should be mining more copper rather than letting the price go out of hand. It's not gold!
