Holden's engineer made the trip in a Commodore Omega with SIDI technology on a single tank, achieving 7.5L/100km. We put the challenge to self-confessed lead-foot and Australian swimming legend, Michael Klim. See how he did it.
@guzeboyz actually it does, because the stress to charge the battery use more fuel.

@whyrate aircon doesnt use petrol it uses power from the battery and as you drive the battery charges so using the aircon would make like no difference

The only time GM will be on the same page is when they release the self driving car, that will be the day..

@xjohnno mate the car there talking about is the 3.0lt SIDI V6 not the SV6 with a 3.6lt SIDI V6
I own a SIDI SV6 and regularly get over 630k's to a tank on city/highway driving so I think it would get close to 900k's if you babied it

@xjohnno My brother has this car and we drove 820k's on a full tank, mostly highway but but spent about 20 minutes stuck behind 2 buses going 80k's on the freeway. it was mostly flat most of the way, I assume if there were alot of hills you would burn more. But I could believe that you could do 900k's on a tank

Maybe if you were driving at 60-80km/hr on the freeway.

I'm sorry... I really don't believe this. We recently took a SV6 with the new SIDI and didnt reach any where near 900km... more close to 750kms for the tank... Unless it was the petrol we were using... and yes it was 90% freeway sitting at 110Km/h...
Please Explain....

My 10 year old WH Statesman does Sydney to Melbourne in one tank. It may have a 85 L tank, but it's good to see room for improvement. It's a Supercharged V6 with a 10 PSI pulley and I'm wrapped with it. Love my Long wheel base Statesman. Cheers Holden
