This video shows how Drumheller evolved from a coal mining town to a major tourist center, how it became the Dinosaur Capital of Canada. This narrated slideshow uses photographs from my 50 year old collection, plus 3 from the Glenbow Museum (the Cadillac, the bakery van and Airial (a coal mining town which was across the river from Rosedale)).

  • Thanks for the vid. I love the badlands! BTW, The Atlas Coal Mine you mentioned is now a National Historic Site and offers tours in Canada's last wooden tipple as well as underground tours of its conveyor tunnel!

  • But if you turn the volume up, it doesn't sound so bad.

  • Yes, well stated. I was going to say exactly the same thing.

  • Yes, good point. There were many reasons why I struggled with the narration, and why I didn't revise it last winter. The next one should be much better.

  • haha thats a nice information source to tell with pictures. Thanx for the information. I just thought there would be a sad ending because of your voice... Maybe next time cheer it up a bit :) thanx again.

  • Thanks for posting this video...
