This is the moments shortly before and after the birth of our son, Ewan. I planned to leave the camera running for the birth itself, but once we were prepped for emergency surgery it didn't seem so appropriate. Hopefully this still captures the emotion of an amazing event.
Although your birth didn't go as planned, it looks like it was still very personal and profound. It looked like they left you alone to bond with your baby while they took care of other things, and your doctor and the nurses were very respectful. Despite the circumstances, everyone was calm and there was no pressure from the medical staff. If I were to give birth in a hosptial, it would be a European or Australian hospital.

It's so sad that American hospitals don't operate like that. They intervene unnecessarily during labor and delivery, then take away from the bonding process by snatching the baby away from Mom right away so they can do procedures that in reality, can wait until later. Birth is always treated as an emergency, and there is usually pressure and disrespect from the medical staff. Many of them seem to care more about the $ than about their patients' individual needs. So "assembly line". So sad.
