Soldering the electric part - components, wires, etc according to scheme. Please refer to the diagram shown in my previous video. Check references at Dimarzio.com, seymourduncan.com, projectguitar.com, stewmac.com and others. My guitar project. Buying guitar parts from all over and putting them together into a nice-looking and sounding strat-like electric guitar.

  • how many watts should the soldering iron be? thanks!

  • @kedocom Doesn't have to be much, if it's a soldering iron it should do the work. I think mine is 40 or 60W, it will take a bit longer to get to proper temperature, but more than that you'll burn things or make your work hard.

  • urm can you help me? my solder wont stick to the potentialmeter ... so what should i do?

  • You gotta make sure it's very clean - no oil from touching it (pot AND wire tips). Use isopropilic alcohol to clean it. Even so, sometimes it won't stick, it's part of it, try again and again. I guess during the videos I had to redo it a couple of times (and edited it) ;>)

  • ive got a practice pot(a second hand one juz to practice) i noticed something like a copper behind the solder..what is it?

  • dunno, maybe it's copper to increase conductivity... or maybe it's the frozen liquid from the solder. sorry, can't help on that.

  • the hot wire is the wire that goes from the middle prong on the vol. knob to the positive on the jack, 1 black wire goes to the ground on the other prong the other black wire grounds to the trem claw in the rear cavity probably or maybe somewhere else not really sure they are all different

  • also make sure you dont over heat the pot by holding the iron on it too long or you will ruin it

  • ok, heres my issue, i have a shechter daimond series bass guitar, and it needs its jack fixed/replaced, i have the jack it came with, however, it is completeley detached from the three wires, one green, two black howeever, the black wires are indescernable (spelled right?). so, how would i know the difference? i have a soldering kit, wire, and am familliar with soldering, all i need to know is which wires go where? please respond.

  • Scuff the top with some sandpaper the apply solder.

  • There is a dvd out there A Complete Custom Electric Guitar and preview on YouTube

  • flux will help
