This is the Exchange Street Lift Bridge that crosses the Erie Canal in Lockport, New York. This video shows the bridge in action as well as a nice boat crusing the canal.
I grew up on Clinton St. and went to DeWitt Clinton School. My grandfather was the bridge operator and used to let me ring the bell (hand pull ropes then) and let me run the bridge controls. Lots of memories!
