On Thursday, Oct. 5, activists worldwide will give something up in recognition of the genocide taking place in Sudan. The Fast will raise awareness about the crisis in Darfur and support an immediate and robust protection force for the people of Darfur. To participate in the Fast, give up one item for the day and donate the money you saved over the course of the day toward civilian protection in Darfur.
Participants include Don Cheadle, Nicholas Kristof, the cast of "The West Wing" and more!

I agree. If we could have the US defense budget to fight genocide in the world it would be great, but that is truly naive. The truth is more powerful than any gun...

the thing is that we arent paying for weapons, and weapons aren't being used for the darfur relief fund, so the price of a tank is completely irrelevant. it goes for food and medical care. think about it... a bag of rice is 4 dollars for 10 pounds. that four dollars just fed 10 people for a day. what did it cost u? practically nothing

well made, but unfortunetely powerless in its overall effect. what can they do? its too innocent, and even though i wholly support groups to stop Darfur's genocide, i cannot stand seeing such powerless attempts to inform americans. probably one artillery piece in iraq or israel would cost more than all the donations on oct. 5. its disappointing and tragic.

I agree with ZeAlbino,I day..? Do we all live with superficial vision , watching our football, baseball playoffs, nascar, getting ready for the oncomming season of "American Idol" while children are being thrown in fires in Sudan? People, there's a genocide happening now, let's listen to the "better angels of our nature" and do more!

Nice commercial. It's a good idea. But 1 day? Considering everything the people of Darfur have to live without, couldn't we do a little more than 1 day? I dont see how that can send much of a message. Don't get me wrong, I think its a good idea, but perhaps we could go bigger. I'm going to participate[though I need to still figure out what to give up], but I'm going to do it for a longer span of time, I think. Keep up the awareness. :)
