First session at Kinetic Revolution (http://www.kinetic-revolution.com/). Filming my running at different paces and looking for the causes of my ongoing problems in the left calf.
Points of note:
- Some pronation, but nothing unusual
- I actually heel strike, but very quickly roll through to toes (I didn't realise I did)
- Foot fall is slightly over extended.
- I push off hard and use quads/hip flexors to throw leg through, don't engage glutes/hamstrings.
- Push off particularly on left side and all driving through calf. Likely why I have problems.
- Low arm swing and minimal movement from shoulder
Next session we'll be working on drills, strength work and a program to address these issues. Aims are to engage glutes and hamstrings in lifting the foot and to improve body position and foot fall relative to it.
