The flag is really thin from what I heard to keep weight down. Because you can imagine that if it takes like 1 million dollars to take 10 pounds up to the moon, than a real flag would have to be cut. The reason you see it moving around is because of Newton's first law of motion.

Stars will not be visible on the Moon with the sun shining. Can you see stars on the Earth when the sun shines? The light from the sun is much more bright than the stars light. The only time you may be able to see stars on the Moon is during a lunar eclipse.
