This affordable, tiny, pre-fabricated cabin was a HUGE hit for Family Circle magazine and Jeff Milstein in the 70s, and sold-out its 25,000 plan sets. At the time, it cost only $2500 to build- including furnishings, and the woodstove.

PS- the sale price for the cabin with 1/4 acre of land- WATERFRONT- was $18,000 USD. Dustin, Dawn and I were going to all go in together to buy it, but this place sold almost instantly before we could say "I'll take it!": I hope the new owners restore it to its former glory- paint it, deck it out with some nice camp furniture, etc- and don't just tear it down to make way for something else. So few of these left- countryplans "Daht" com has a link somewhere to free plans...

Deek, thanks for posting this. As you said, this was a very popular design in its day. I saw it when it was first published and thought it was the coolest thing ever. I still think it's one of the most clever and attractive houses I've seen of any size. This is the first video I've seen on one of these houses, I appreciate your efforts.

No,I'm a big horror movie fan (I'm in the upcoming film "Slew Hampshire")- actually talked to Gunnar Hansen and his mgmt a ways back- he said (when asked) that he'd be into a cameo in one of my episodes- but we'd have to film near him- wayyyyyy in northern Maine (6-7 hours from me). We'll see- it comes down to $ and time......

From what I understand, the original plan called for the entire structure to be prefabricated and could be hauled to a site with a trailer. Looking at how tall the cabin is, it's mighty impressive.

Family Circle had some great tiny house plans designed to be inexpensive second homes. I have several of them in a notebook some where. I'll have to see if I can find them.
