This is the full segment on FOX News about the 'Goth Murder Madness', which featured an interview with the musician Voltaire (voltaire.net). Voltaire comes in about half way through this segment.

Clip is from Oct. 22nd, 2005. And I actually had the pleasure of seeing him play a free instore at OzoneUK in Portland right before he was whisked away to do this interview, so his 'pre-interview' talk was pretty funny too. He actually said they'd call him 'Satanic Goth' or something like that, which as you watch, they got kind of close to his prediction.

I know someone else has already posted just the interview part, but I think the two minutes before the interview gives the interview some more context. Mostly because the woman says 'gothic stuff' and 'killed so desperately', which...I'm not even sure what that means...

  • Goths are generally some of the most compassionate people on earth. Despite our reputation, we are actually nice people if you're not an asshole to us. Stereotypes suck ass, and anyone who judges people by the group they're in needs to get smacked in their stupid and sheepy little head.

  • Voltaire is right. Well answered. If goth was such a bad influence to youth, what does that make gangsta rap? If being goth is so wrong, what is it that main streamed people rather like? A world full of people with the same consistent lifestyle, music and fashion? There will be no more progress in culture.

  • I live on the countryside in Germany. The only eyperience with the goth scene I have are Richmond from "the IT-crowd" who is a parody but funny as hell and Voltaire, who is extraordinary awesome. (he again proofed that in this interview) How could someone find people, who simply like to have their own music and culture apart from the mainstream, dangerous?

  • Fox Y U so stupid

  • It's just like our school. Everyone assumes that the goth group of kids are "scary" or mean but they don't bother getting to know them. They are nice and fun to hang out with. People just kind of shun them at our school. And yea you could probably consider me goth. Kinda wish people wouldn't assume stuff. They are some of the nicest people I know infact.

  • im not goth, not at all i just like voltaire.

  • I'm glad someone finnaly explained it to we're stupid parents can understand it Voltaire is awsome

  • @Motarify

I know there are smart people, I acknowledge that constantly, however THE MAINSTREAM is always filled with stupid crap like this. Not everyone is like this, but they are or are damn close to majority, and they're definitely the most boisterous.

  • @realcodeman11 Not everyone is idiotic, gullible, and believes everything they see and hear. Why blame everyone as a whole? Please search and look upon the ones who are smart, insightful, and are clever. As much as I don't care about the Goth "subculture", every human who has done no harm deserves acceptance upon fellow peers, neighbors, relatives, pen pals, associates, and country side citizens. Assuming a whole group is wrong, but assuming everyone is wrong as a whole is also wrong.

  • 'goth murder madness' by fox's standards that's actually pretty subdued

  • So, true story, I grew up in Lafayette California, and knew Scott Dyleski.

  • @chestneychiller1

EXACTLY! Society is just so stupid that they fear things they don't understand, instead of looking into it.
