  • and a calculator to find out BMI? shouldn't they be able to do this with mental calculation by this grade?

  • Blame it on the high schools. No they can't do this calculation without a calculator.

  • just a small thing i noticed: it's interesting that around 4:50 when you mention Homeros and his works you say: "if you've ever seen the films..." and not "if you've ever READ THE BOOKS..." ;)

  • They read the books in 1 year... it's the next class they have to take.

  • Come on already! Fast food has been around for decades. People have consumed cookies, candy, cakes and fried treats for eons. Nowadays people have become much more inactive. Indeed obesity is a growing problem. And why is it? Don't blame fast food, tasty snacks and soda so much. If adults and especially children were more physically active obesity wouldn't be such a major issue. Even as little as 20 years ago obesity wasn't as much of a problem. People need to be more active, PERIOD!

  • I think the problem is far more complex that activity. In fact I think I said in the lecture that there is no way to directly connect fast-food with obesity... it's just an interesting correlation that the rise of what we know as fast-food (i.e. entire meals not just snacks) also sees a rise in the obesity rate in America.

  • Sugar= biggest cause if obesity. Starch, wheat and cereals are full of refined sugar.

  • @300palms do you realize how much physical activity it would take to work off even a children's happy meal? I agree that people are much more sedentary than they have been in previous generations, however, the amount of fat and calories consumed by children and adults alike through the consumption of fast foods is nearly insurmountable through physical activity alone. Avoiding fast foods and eating sensibly is a much more sensible option.

  • Couldn't it be hormones in our food that's making us gain weight? Animals are being engineered to get bigger faster and faster and faster...it isn't natural. I have nothing against eating meat per se, but agribusiness practices are nothing short of nightmarish.

  • @timetodepop lool

  • @RedFlower24 fuck jesus

  • Intros should never last that long!

  • the average American eats less fat than they did 25-30years ago yet obesity has increased hugely. Ever think it's not the fat? You should watch the Documentary FatHead which take on SuperSizeMe's claims. It really makes Spurlock look a bit stupid.

  • If anyone has the patience to go beyond the first 30 sec into this video, let me know what is it about.

  • oh shit they had to put up a picture of arbys lol that my favorite :(

  • but humans need meat. You are not healthy if you just eat vegetarian food.

and if you just eat vegetarian, then you need vitamin pills..The meat got vitamins you need, and meat is natural for a human body;)

but you don't have to eat fast food! thats not good.
